I was very impressed with the timeliness of SCR. Brian was not only patient with my insurance company inspector, but he was patient with me deciding on the perfect roof and gutter colors, which turned out great. He is honest, professional and knowledgeable. SCR was really a one stop shop to fit my needs of roofing, screens, and gutters. I love doing business with a resourceful company, basically, all your needs are under one roofing contractor. Brian thank you for your excellent and timely service. Mia MorrisonPosted on Google![]()

After a recent hail storm I called SCR’s Brian Roderick to come by and help me prepare a claim for my insurance company. This was the second time that I had worked with him on a claim for roof damage. The first had been handled very professionally with excellent results so I didn’t hesitate to be a return customer. Brian came out, inspected my roof and prepared a report listing all damages noted and an estimated cost to repair. He reviewed the insurance submission process with me and gave me a Hail Storm Report listing the date and time of the storm, path traveled, and reported hail stone sizes to submit with my claim. He also asked me to request that he be able to accompany the insurance company inspector during his inspection trip. The Insurance Company Inspector met with Brian on the agreed date, inspected the property with Brian and basically agreed to his assessment. As the agreed roof replacement date approached, Brian came by and reviewed what would happen the next day and announced that the crew would arrive and start work around 6:30 am. They arrived on time and the first person to ring our doorbell was the Crew Chief who introduced himself and said that if I had any questions during the day that I should just ask for him and he would take care of them. My wife asked him to be careful of some of the plants in our flower beds and he promptly had the crew arrange tarps to provide protective tents over sensitive plants. The work proceeded through the day with an army of roofers. I had told Brian that my wife and I had a dinner engagement and he showed up at the time I had told him we needed to leave. He said he would stay until everything was finished, including cleanup. When we returned that evening everything looked great and the property looked better than when they started. Hopefully I won’t need similar roofing efforts in the future, but in North Texas, who knows? If I do SCR will receive the call without hesitation. If Brian commits to something you can write it in ink…..it ain’t going to change.Posted on Google![]()

After a recent hailstorm, we received Mark and SCR's info from one of our neighbors after they had their roof replaced. Mark was very prompt in coming out and inspecting the roof. He helped guide us through the insurance claims and inspection process and helped facilitate the process of working with the insurance company. When it was time for the install, SCR had a large professional crew that came out and finished in about 6-7 hours. They did a good job cleaning up afterwards. It feels good going with a local experienced company, as some of the roofing folks that go door-to-door after weather events can be pushy. Mark and the team from SCR were very courteous and professional and didn't pressure us at any point in the process. We'll definitely work with SCR again in the future and would highly recommend them to others for honest pricing and quality work.Posted on Google![]()

This was the best roofing experience, and we’ve dealt with several over the years with our rent houses. Brian was referred to me from a couple of neighbors. He came to the house and explained the process in detail, worked with our insurance company, gave me a couple of nearby addresses to drive by to help narrow down our choices. We have a steep roof with lots of angles and they finished in one day, cleaned up, and we have a great looking roof! I can’t say enough good things about them. Everything went flawlessly.Posted on Google![]()

Whether you own a lakefront home on Cedar Creek, run a business along Highway 198, or manage a multi-family property in Henderson County, SCR, Inc. installs, replaces, repairs, and restores every roof type Texas weather throws at.
We offer:
Every system we install comes with manufacturer certification. Our roster includes GAF, CertainTeed, Malarkey, Owens Corning, IKO, Atlas, Decra, Tilcor, F-Wave, and Velux, giving Gun Barrel City property owners access to the widest range of shingle, metal, tile, membrane, and skylight warranties on the market.
Homes near Cedar Creek Lake face humidity that drives algae growth, wind that hits shoreline properties harder than inland ones, and summer heat that shortens shingle life without proper ventilation. Our residential work is spec’d around those realities.
Commercial buildings, apartment complexes, and HOAs across Henderson County need roofing decisions that account for downtime, tenant coordination, and long-term maintenance budgets.
Cedar Creek Lake sits in an active hail and wind corridor, and our claim-side experience shapes how we respond after severe weather.
Aging roofs don’t always need replacement. Precision repair extends the life of a working system and postpones a larger investment.

At SCR, Inc., we help Gun Barrel City homeowners navigate the insurance restoration process from start to finish. Because our team includes former licensed all-line adjusters, we know how to speak your carrier’s language and write line-item reports designed for direct submission that help claims move faster and have even helped us overturn denied hail claims.
Here is how we support you:
A quick note on legalities: We are not public adjusters. Additionally, under the Texas Insurance Code, we cannot waive, absorb, or rebate your insurance deductible. That remains the homeowner’s responsibility.
Call (972) 839-6834 to start your Gun Barrel City insurance claim inspection.
Installing a Class 4 impact-resistant roof can qualify Gun Barrel City homeowners for annual insurance premium discounts of 20% to 35% on the wind and hail portion of their policy.
Most top Texas home insurance carriers offer premium reductions for Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 2218 Class 4 certified materials. Ranges vary by carrier, coverage limits, deductible, and underwriting.
| Carrier | Discount on Wind/Hail Premium | Estimated Annual Savings* |
|---|---|---|
| State Farm | 20% to 35% | $300 to $525 |
| Allstate | 25% to 30% | $375 to $450 |
| USAA | 30% to 35% | $450 to $525 |
| Farmers | 20% to 25% | $300 to $375 |
| Liberty Mutual | 25% to 30% | $375 to $450 |
| Nationwide | 20% to 25% | $300 to $375 |
| Texas Farm Bureau | 25% to 30% | $375 to $450 |
| Travelers | 20% to 25% | $300 to $375 |
| Amica | 25% to 30% | $375 to $450 |
| GEICO | 20% to 25% | $300 to $375 |
| Mercury | Varies | Ask your agent |
| Safeco | Varies | Ask your agent |
Note: Estimated savings assume a $1,500 annual wind/hail premium portion, typical for hail-prone North Texas policies. Confirm current rates with your insurance agent.
Upon project completion, SCR, Inc. provides a signed Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) Impact Resistance Form PC068 for you to submit to your agent to activate the discount.
Call (972) 839-6834 to schedule your Class 4 roof consultation.
Cedar Creek Lake humidity, open-water wind exposure, and East Texas heat load age roofs faster than roofs in drier inland areas, and knowing the warning signs saves money on emergency repairs.
The 34,000-acre Cedar Creek reservoir holds moisture in the air year-round, which feeds algae and moss growth on north-facing asphalt shingle slopes. Wind speeds hit lakefront and lake-adjacent properties harder than inland Henderson County homes because open water creates no windbreak, which is why Class 4 wind-and-hail rated shingles matter more on the shoreline.
Summer attic temperatures push past 140°F under East Texas heat, stressing sealant strips and shortening asphalt shingle life without proper ridge and soffit ventilation. Occasional hard freezes, most recently the February 2021 winter storm, drive freeze-thaw movement through flashing and ridge caps. Henderson County’s expansive clay soil also affects perimeter drainage, which is why properly sized seamless gutters are more important here than in stable-soil regions.
Call (972) 839-6834 for a free inspection if you spot any of these on your Gun Barrel City property.
Get a free roof inspection from SCR, Inc.’s Gun Barrel City team, whether you’re facing fresh hail damage, an aging shingle roof, or a commercial property in need of a reliable long-term partner.
Our family-owned team has spent 25-plus years handling Cedar Creek Lake and Henderson County roofs, and our licensed adjusters know how to write damage reports that carriers actually pay.
Call (972) 839-6834 to talk through your roof with a family-run contractor.

Actual Cash Value (ACV) is what your damaged roof is worth today, meaning replacement cost minus depreciation for age and wear. Replacement Cost Value (RCV) is what it costs to install a new roof of similar kind and quality at current prices. Most Texas policies pay ACV first, then release the depreciation recovery once repairs are completed and invoiced. That means you generally need to complete the work to collect the full RCV. Some policies are written ACV-only and cap the payout at the depreciated amount, so check your policy declarations page before starting a claim.
Requirements differ depending on whether the property sits inside Gun Barrel City limits or in unincorporated Henderson County along the Cedar Creek Lake shoreline. SCR, Inc. handles all local permit filings, code documentation, and municipal inspection scheduling on your behalf.
Class 4 shingles pass the UL 2218 impact test by surviving repeated drops of a 2-inch steel ball from 20 feet without cracking the underlying mat. Class 3 shingles use a smaller 1.75-inch steel ball. Class 4 offers the highest defense against severe hail and qualifies for the widest range of Texas insurance premium discounts.
Lake humidity feeds algae and moss growth, particularly on north-facing slopes that receive less direct sun. Premium shingle lines from GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, and Malarkey now include algae-resistant granules with 10-year performance warranties against streaking, worth specifying on any lake-area installation.
