Roof Replacement Services We Offer in Rockwall, TX

SCR handles six distinct roof replacement scenarios in Rockwall, and each one runs on a different playbook.

  • Insurance-claim replacement. The most common Rockwall scenario. A covered event, whether hail, high wind, fallen tree, fire, or lightning, has damaged your roof and your carrier is involved. SCR runs a documentation-first playbook here, since carrier approval depends on how you present the damage before tear-off. When damage is severe enough to expose the interior, we mobilize emergency tarping within 24 hours to protect the home while scheduling the replacement.
  • Denied-claim replacement. Your carrier said no, or the payout does not cover a full replacement. SCR triggers the Texas appraisal process to reopen the claim, which is why Rockwall homeowners bring us in after another contractor has already lost the fight.
  • End-of-life replacement. Your roof is 18 to 25+ years old, and shingles are failing on schedule with no storm involved. This scenario runs without a carrier, so it is scheduled around your timing and financed if needed rather than expedited around a claim deadline.
  • Upgrade replacement. Your existing roof still functions, but you want better performance. Common upgrades include 3-tab to architectural shingles, standard asphalt to Class 4 impact-resistant shingles for hail resilience, or asphalt to metal for lifespan and energy efficiency. Impact-resistant systems often qualify for a Texas homeowner’s insurance discount, which shortens the payback window.
  • Pre-sale replacement. A buyer’s inspector flagged the roof, and the sale is contingent on replacing it. SCR turns these around fast because closing dates do not wait, and we produce the documentation your real-estate agent needs to hand the buyer at closing.
  • Second-opinion replacement. Another contractor has already quoted you and you want the estimate verified before signing. Common in Rockwall after a hail event because storm-chasing crews out of state ramp up quickly and their scopes often miss what a local carrier expects to see.

Roof Replacement Cost in Rockwall, TX

Rockwall market-rate pricing for a full residential replacement typically runs $5,500 to $18,000+ on asphalt or impact-resistant shingles, with metal and slate premium above that. Your written estimate will reflect your specific home. If you are paying out of pocket, we offer roofing finance options, with final terms subject to lender approval.

Local cost drivers include:

  • Roof size and pitch. Steeper and larger roofs take more material and more labor.
  • Material choice. Asphalt is the entry point. Impact-resistant, metal, tile, and slate each cost more and last longer.
  • Decking condition. Rotted decking discovered after tear-off adds to the final bill.
  • Complexity. Valleys, dormers, chimneys, and multiple penetrations increase labor time.
  • Insurance vs. out-of-pocket. If your Rockwall roof was hit by a covered hail or wind event, your out-of-pocket may be limited to your deductible.

Roofing Materials We Install on Rockwall Replacements

We install six residential roofing systems on Rockwall homes, from standard asphalt up through slate, all backed by direct-from-manufacturer warranties.

  • Asphalt shingles. The most common choice, with a 20- to 30 year lifespan.
  • Impact-resistant shingles. Class 4 rated for hail, often eligible for a Texas homeowner’s insurance discount. Strongly worth considering for Rockwall.
  • Metal roofing. 40 to 70-year lifespan with excellent hail and wind performance.
  • Slate roofing. Premium natural stone with a 75+ year lifespan.
  • Stone-coated steel. The look of tile or shake with the durability of steel.
  • Sustainable roofing options. Cool roofs and energy-efficient systems.

Because we are certified installers for GAF, CertainTeed, Malarkey, IKO, Decra, Tilcor, F-Wave, and Velux, you get access to top warranty tiers most contractors cannot offer.

Signs You Need a Full Roof Replacement in Rockwall Instead of a Repair

If two or more of the following apply to your Rockwall home, replacement is almost always the smarter economic choice than continuing to patch.

  • Your roof is 20 to 25+ years old
  • Widespread hail damage across multiple slopes
  • Multiple active leaks in different areas of the roof
  • Curling, cupping, or missing shingles across large sections
  • Significant granule loss showing up in gutters and downspouts
  • Sagging rooflines or soft spots in the decking
  • Daylight visible through the attic
  • You have already paid for the same roof to be repaired multiple times
  • Storm damage after a major Rockwall hail or wind event
  • The buyer’s inspection flagged the roof during a home sale

Tear-Off vs. Overlay for Your Rockwall Roof Replacement

Architectural shingles stacked across a residential roof during an active roof replacement project.

A full tear-off is the right choice for nearly every Rockwall replacement, and an overlay only fits a narrow set of conditions.

Tear-off strips the roof down to the decking and installs everything fresh, while an overlay installs new shingles directly over the existing layer. Tear-off costs more upfront but exposes hidden decking damage, allows fresh underlayment, and delivers a true 20- to 30 year lifespan.

Overlay is faster and cheaper, hides problems, adds weight, and shortens the new roof’s lifespan. For hail-damaged or aging Rockwall roofs, tear-off wins on economics over the life of the roof.

What Causes Roof Damage in Rockwall

Rockwall’s position along the Interstate 30 hail corridor, its fast-growing housing stock now hitting the 15-to-25-year repair window, and Lake Ray Hubbard’s humidity load age Rockwall roofs faster than in more sheltered parts of Texas.

Rockwall County sits along the Interstate 30 corridor, one of the most active severe-weather tracks in North Texas. The Insurance Council of Texas ranks the DFW Metroplex, including Rockwall County, as the number-one hail-loss zone in the country by claim frequency. Hail events pass through the county multiple times per storm season, and open terrain east of the DFW urban core gives straight-line winds room to build speed before hitting roofs.

Rockwall has also grown faster than most Texas counties over the past 20 years, with population more than doubling since 2000. That growth means much of the housing stock was built in the early 2000s and is now hitting the 15-to-25-year window where component failures start showing up ahead of full shingle failure. Standard asphalt shingles installed in that era carried 25- to 30-year manufacturer warranties, but Texas UV, hail exposure, and thermal cycling typically cut real-world lifespan to 15 to 22 years.

Lake Ray Hubbard on the western edge adds humidity that feeds algae growth on north-facing slopes, and occasional hard freezes like the February 2021 winter storm stress older sealant strips and flashing joints. Winter Storm Uri produced sustained sub-freezing temperatures for over 100 hours across North Texas, cracking sealant on thousands of Rockwall roofs that appeared undamaged from the ground.

I was very impressed with the timeliness of SCR. Brian was not only patient with my insurance company inspector, but he was patient with me deciding on the perfect roof and gutter colors, which turned out great. He is honest, professional and knowledgeable. SCR was really a one stop shop to fit my needs of roofing, screens, and gutters. I love doing business with a resourceful company, basically, all your needs are under one roofing contractor. Brian thank you for your excellent and timely service. Mia Morrison

After a recent hail storm I called SCR’s Brian Roderick to come by and help me prepare a claim for my insurance company. This was the second time that I had worked with him on a claim for roof damage. The first had been handled very professionally with excellent results so I didn’t hesitate to be a return customer. Brian came out, inspected my roof and prepared a report listing all damages noted and an estimated cost to repair. He reviewed the insurance submission process with me and gave me a Hail Storm Report listing the date and time of the storm, path traveled, and reported hail stone sizes to submit with my claim. He also asked me to request that he be able to accompany the insurance company inspector during his inspection trip. The Insurance Company Inspector met with Brian on the agreed date, inspected the property with Brian and basically agreed to his assessment. As the agreed roof replacement date approached, Brian came by and reviewed what would happen the next day and announced that the crew would arrive and start work around 6:30 am. They arrived on time and the first person to ring our doorbell was the Crew Chief who introduced himself and said that if I had any questions during the day that I should just ask for him and he would take care of them. My wife asked him to be careful of some of the plants in our flower beds and he promptly had the crew arrange tarps to provide protective tents over sensitive plants. The work proceeded through the day with an army of roofers. I had told Brian that my wife and I had a dinner engagement and he showed up at the time I had told him we needed to leave. He said he would stay until everything was finished, including cleanup. When we returned that evening everything looked great and the property looked better than when they started. Hopefully I won’t need similar roofing efforts in the future, but in North Texas, who knows? If I do SCR will receive the call without hesitation. If Brian commits to something you can write it in ink…..it ain’t going to change.

After a recent hailstorm, we received Mark and SCR's info from one of our neighbors after they had their roof replaced. Mark was very prompt in coming out and inspecting the roof. He helped guide us through the insurance claims and inspection process and helped facilitate the process of working with the insurance company. When it was time for the install, SCR had a large professional crew that came out and finished in about 6-7 hours. They did a good job cleaning up afterwards. It feels good going with a local experienced company, as some of the roofing folks that go door-to-door after weather events can be pushy. Mark and the team from SCR were very courteous and professional and didn't pressure us at any point in the process. We'll definitely work with SCR again in the future and would highly recommend them to others for honest pricing and quality work.

It was a real pleasure to work with Mark Safford at SCR! He did a great job not only working with my insurance adjuster but also helped to navigate through my mortgage lender's third party Assurant. I highly recommend working with Mark and his team!

This was the best roofing experience, and we’ve dealt with several over the years with our rent houses. Brian was referred to me from a couple of neighbors. He came to the house and explained the process in detail, worked with our insurance company, gave me a couple of nearby addresses to drive by to help narrow down our choices. We have a steep roof with lots of angles and they finished in one day, cleaned up, and we have a great looking roof! I can’t say enough good things about them. Everything went flawlessly.
